Smoke Leads to Air Quality Alert in Rochester, MN
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- An Air Quality alert is in place for Rochester and southeast Minnesota through Monday morning.

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency issued the alert shortly before noon on Sunday. Officials predict the air quality will reach orange status meaning sensitive groups, such as people with lung disease (including asthma), heart disease, and children and older adults, may experience health effects.
The alert is prompted by a band of smoke from wildfires in Quebec, Canada filtering west across the great lakes. Officials say the smoke could impact communities as far into Minnesota as St. Cloud.
Air quality is expected to improve in southeast Minnesota by Monday morning. The alert is set to expire at 9 a.m. Monday.
