Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man was sentenced this afternoon for sexually assaulting a young child.

An Olmsted County jury returned a guilty verdict against 29-year-old Moices Francisco at the end of a trial held in August. He was convicted of first- and second-degree criminal sexual conduct charges.

The Victim Reported Numerous Assaults Over Two Years

According to the criminal complaint, the sexual assaults involved a girl who was between 10 and 12 years old. The abuse occurred numerous times over a two-year span before it was reported in October 2022.

The court document states the child told investigators that Francisco would be intoxicated and would touch her while she was watching TV. The criminal complaint says the victim's mother threw him out of the home after one of the incidents but later allowed him to return after he stopped drinking.

He Was Allowed Back Into the Home

Investigators say the sexual assaults resumed after Francisco was allowed back into the residence.

He has been sentenced to 12 years in prison, with credit for 127 days he has already spent in jail. Francisco will also be on conditional release for 10 years following the completion of his prison sentence and is required to register as a predatory offender.
