Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Chatfield woman accused of leading Rochester Police on a chase while driving drunk has admitted to a felony charge.

Court documents say 45-year-old Angela Marie Burt was charged last year with a felony count of fleeing police and two gross misdemeanor counts of DWI following her arrest. It was alleged that she fled from a patrol officer after she was spotted speeding at nearly 65 mph in a 30 mile-per-hour zone on 14th Street Northeast in the early morning hours of December 29, 2024.

Police Say an Officer Spotted Her Driving at Nearly 65 MPH in a 30 MPH Zone

According to the criminal complaint, Burt initially stopped after the officer activated the squad car's emergency lights, but then drove away before pulling over along the shoulder of North Broadway. The charges alleged that she then accelerated north at a high rate of speed as the officer approached.

At that point, the officer abandoned the pursuit. Court documents say her vehicle was later located along 75th Street Northeast and Burt was eventually taken into custody after first refusing the commands of police officers at the scene.

The criminal complaint says the arresting officers detected the odor of alcohol and observed Burt slurring her words and suffering from poor balance. They also reported finding a broken bottle of rum inside the vehicle.

Court records indicate Burt was previously convicted of impaired driving in Olmsted County in 2022.
