Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) -  It appears a potential strike by transit bus drivers in Rochester has been averted.

A statement issued this afternoon from the City of Rochester says the company contracted to operate Rochester Public Transit has notified the city that it has reached a tentative agreement with the union representing its drivers in Rochester. The tentative deal was reached during a mediation session earlier today.

Last week, the city issued an advisory warning that a work stoppage by the drivers was possible if the mediation session failed to produce an agreement. With that tentative agreement now in place, Rochester Public Transit will continue with its regular routes and schedule.

Details about the tentative labor agreement have not been released. The RPT drivers, who belong to the Amalgamated Transit Workers Union Local 1005,  are expected to hold a contract ratification vote on Sunday.
