Pedestrian Killed at Busy Intersection Next to Lake Minnetonka
Shorewood, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a deadly vehicle versus pedestrian collision.
The deadly incident was reported around 1 PM on Friday in the western Twin Cities suburb of Shorewood. The State Patrol says the victim was in the crosswalk area while attempting to cross a four-lane highway near Lake Minnetonka when she was struck by a pickup truck.
The preliminary crash report indicates the pickup was traveling south on an intersecting road and the driver was attempting to take a left hand turn onto the four-lane highway.
The pedestrian, 65-year-old Lori Catherine Dahl of Shorewood, was transported to the Hennepin County Medical Center, where she died from her injuries.
The pickup driver, 54-year-old Derek Allen Johnson of Shorewood, was not hurt. The State Patrol report indicates alcohol was not involved.
