Minnesota State Fair Announces Price Hike for 2023
St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News)- Minnesota State Fair goers will have to shell out more money at this year’s Great Minnesota Get-Together.
The State Fair’s Board of Managers held their 164th annual meeting over the weekend. Leaders approved $9.4 million in projects that had been put off since 2019, according to a news release from the State Fair.
Fair leaders also authorized a $1 increase for the price of admission. The new increase brings tickets for adults ages 13-64 to $18, tickets for kids ages 5-12 and seniors ages 65+ will be $16. Children ages four and younger will continue to be let in for free.
The admission increase will also apply to discounted pre-fair tickets, which are set to cost $15 this year, up from $14 in 2022. In the news release, State Fair CEO Jerry Hammer blamed the admission increase on rising costs in fair production, public safety, facilities upkeep and other services such as the free Park & Ride system.
“We work hard to provide an amazing experience for everyone, and it takes a lot of effort and expenses to do that,” Hammer stated.
