Austin Man Admits to Assault Charge in Case Involving Gun Threat Towards Group of Girls
20-year-old Trayveon Tom Heuangsayaseng Jr. was charged with three counts of second-degree assault and a gross misdemeanor charge of carrying a pistol in public without a permit last July.
Rochester Police responded to the gun threat report shortly after 1:30 a.m. on July 30 at the North Broadway Ave. Taco Bell.
The chargers say three juvenile girls in a vehicle told officers they had been at Quarry Hill Park with Heuangsayaseng Jr. when he got into a dispute with one of the girls.
The group then dispersed and the girls went to the Taco Bell where they encountered Heuangsayaseng Jr.’s vehicle as they were leaving.
The charges say Heuangsayaseng Jr. then pointed a gun out of the vehicle’s window at the girls.
Police pulled over Heuangsayaseng Jr. shortly after responding to the restaurant and found a handgun inside of the vehicle, the complaint says.
Heuangsayaseng Jr. pleaded guilty Thursday to one of the assault counts. In exchange for the guilty plea, the prosecution dismissed the two other assault counts and the gross misdemeanor charge.
The plea deal calls for a maximum seven year prison sentence. Court records indicate Heuangsayaseng Jr. will ask for a downward sentencing departure during his sentencing hearing in July.
