Webster, MN (KROC-AM News)- A crash in rural southern Minnesota claimed the life of a 30-year-old man, left a woman with critical injuries and sent a baby and toddler to the hospital.

That’s according to a news release issued by the Rice County Sheriff’s Office over the weekend. 

The tragic fatality occurred Saturday evening. One vehicle was involved in the Rice County crash.

Deputies responded to the deadly crash around 8 p.m. in the 3000 block of 30th St. West in Webster Township, which is about 23 miles north of Faribault


30-year-old Nathan John Thomas, of Dundas was identified as one of three passengers in the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The driver, described as a 33-year-old woman, was airlifted from the scene with critical injuries. Her name has not been released.

First responders had to extricate the toddler and baby who were also riding in the vehicle. The toddler is a 21-month-old boy and the baby boy is two months old.

The children were also taken to a Twin Cities hospital for what authorities described as urgent medical care. An update on their conditions is not available. 

The news release says the cause of the fatal crash is under investigation. Authorities are asking anyone with information regarding the deadly crash to contact the Rice County Sheriff’s Office. 

Officials plan to release more updates when they become available. 

The Scott County Sheriff's Office, Elko/New Market Police Department, Elko/New Market Fire Department, Lonsdale Fire Department and Northfield EMS also responded to the fatality.
