Stanford Township, MN (KROC-AM News) - Authorities have released the name of a man who was killed in a motorcycle crash late last night in a suburban area on the far northern edge of the Twin Cities.

The Isanti County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded around 11:15 p.m. to a report of an injury crash on a rural road in Stanford Township, about 10 miles northeast of Elk River. When the deputies arrived at the scene, they discovered that a motorcycle had collided with a deer.

A news release says emergency responders from the Sheriff's Office and the Zimmerman Fire Department found the motorcycle driver experiencing respiratory distress and began life-saving measures before 58-year-old William Windhauser was airlifted to North Memorial Hospital.

The Sheriff's Office says it was notified today that the rural Cambridge man has died from his injuries.
