Stewartville, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Twin Cities motorist was arrested following an injury crash in Olmsted County Friday morning.

The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office says speed and impairment were factors. One vehicle also disobeyed a traffic signal. 

Two vehicles were involved in the crash, which had multiple witnesses. The drivers were the only occupants involved.

24-Year-old Brooklyn Center Man Arrested for Stewartville Crash That Injured Rochester Man

Deputies responded to the crash shortly after 2:15 a.m. at the intersection of North Main St. and 20th St. in downtown Stewartville

Lt. Malinda Hanson says the investigation indicated a Dodge car traveling south on Main St., which is also Hwy. 63, was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck a Hyundai car as it passed through the intersection. 

Hanson said the Hyundai had a green light at the intersection.

A 49-year-old Rochester man was driving the Hyundai. He suffered minor injuries but was brought to a hospital as a precaution due to the high-speed nature of the collision, Hanson said.

His name has not been released. 

Authorities identified the driver of the Dodge as 24-year-old Jared Arellano. Hanson said the Brooklyn Center man was showing signs of impairment. Arellano was also brought to a hospital as a precaution.

At the hospital deputies began to process him for DWI and took him to jail once he was medically cleared. Hanson indicates Arellano could be charged with criminal vehicular operation

Mayo Clinic Ambulance and the Stewartville Fire Department also responded to the two-vehicle crash.
