$50,000 Reward Offered in Search For Missing Winona Woman

Update: Winona, MN (KROC-AM News)- Investigators say they believe the disappearance of a Winona woman is involuntary and suspicious.

Winona Police Chief Tom Williams shared an update regarding the search for 26-year-old Madeline Kingsbury during a news conference on Wednesday. She was last seen in Winona on the morning of March 31. It was also announced today that her family is offering a $50,000 reward in the case.

Williams said Madeline and the father of their children dropped their children off at daycare shortly after 8 a.m. on March 31. Concern for her whereabouts began after she did not show up for work, which the Winona Police Department says is out of character for her. 

Williams said law enforcement spoke to the father of the children who said he and Madeline returned to their home around 8:15 a.m. The father told investigators he then left the home in a 2014 dark blue Chrysler Town and Country minivan, that Madeleine usually drives, around 10 a.m. and said she was not home when he returned later in the day. 

Williams said investigators searched the residence and found Madeline's phone, wallet, ID and jacket. He said so far there was nothing to indicate she had left the home on foot or in a different vehicle. 

Williams said investigators believe a van similar to the one Madeline drives had traveled along Winona County Rd. 12 to southbound Hwy. 43 through eastern Fillmore County then seen back towards Winona. He said the van’s journey is believed to have spanned between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. 

Williams said the van Madeline drives remained parked at the residence from 1:30 p.m. onward on March 31 and that investigators have also searched the van Madeline drives. Authorities are asking Winona, Wilson Township and Hillsdale Township residents and landowners to search their properties for anything suspicious that could lead investigators to Madeline’s location. 

Williams and Fillmore County Sheriff John DeGeorge are also asking residents and landowners along the route the van traveled to review any camera footage on their property. The areas of interest in Fillmore County are Norway Township, Preble Township, northern Newburg Township, eastern Holt Township, and eastern Amherst Township. 

Officials are asking anyone conducting a search to share their search method and area searched by emailing search@co.fillmore.mn.us or search@co.winona.mn.us. 

The Minnesota BCA issued an Endangered Missing Person Alert for Madison on Sunday. She is described as 5’4”, 138 pounds, with hazel eyes and brown hair. Anyone with information on Madeline’s whereabouts is asked to call 911, the Winona Police Department at 507-457-6302 or the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office at 507-765-3874 (option 1).

26-year-old  Madeline Jane Kingsbury was last seen on the morning of March 31. Investigators said earlier this week that a 2014 dark blue Chrysler Town and Country minivan that matches the description of Kingsbury’s vehicle was seen traveling in eastern Fillmore County between 8 a.m. on March 31 and 4 p.m. on April 1. 

Fillmore County Sheriff John DeGeorge is asking residents and landowners in Norway Township, Preble Township, northern Newburg Township, eastern Holt Township, and eastern Amherst Township to search their properties, outbuildings, vehicles and trails for any signs that could lead investigators to Madeline. Any individuals or groups searching for her can use a publicly available property map to aid in their search efforts. 

Officials are asking anyone conducting a search to share their search method and area searched by emailing search@co.fillmore.mn.us. Residents and landowners are also being asked to review doorbell cameras, trail cameras and security cameras to see if they captured footage of the van. 

Madeline was reported missing after not showing up for work and not picking up her children from daycare on Friday. Family and friends of Madeline also reported she did not return calls and messages, which the Winona Police Department said is out of character for her.
