There are so many haunted attractions at this time of year, which is to be expected.  After all, Halloween is at the end of the month.  People setting up all sorts of decorations, and planning their excursions to haunted houses, trails, hay rides and the like.  It's nice to also have events that are just Fall focused that the entire family can enjoy.

Stillwater, Minnesota has their Harvest Fest coming up this weekend, October 12-13. There are 2 days full of events mostly centered around pumpkins. There is a pumpkin drop, a pumpkin weigh off, and also a pumpkin regatta  That one looks to be the most fun, at least to me.  It's like one of those things where you watch not necessarily to see who wins the thing, but also to see how many people roll the pumpkin. If you have ever watched this event, those pumpkin "boats" look to be very tippy.  And it's also amazing that there are pumpkins so large that a grown person can actually use it as a boat.

Looking ahead to the weekend weather, it looks like it will be a very nice weekend for outdoor activities.

There are events going on both days, including food trucks, beer garden, inflatable park, the pumpkin events mentioned above, live music, chili cook off and more!  You can check out the schedule of events on the Harvest Fest schedule on their website.

Stillwater Harvest Fest is a FREE event, held the second weekend of October each year, is one of the premier events in downtown Stillwater and one of the largest of its kind in the Midwest. Several times, Stillwater Harvest Fest was the number one giant pumpkin weigh off in the world. That is determined by the combined weight of the Top 10 pumpkins brought to the scale. In 2010 we had a World Record pumpkin.

Stillwater has so many fun events throughout the year, to me it feels like one of those Hallmark Channel fictional towns.  But it's not, and it's a great part of Minnesota as it was founded in 1843, and is one of the oldest towns in the state.
