Can you believe this? Summerland is celebrating its 40th Anniversary this July 4th weekend. Summerland opened the weekend of July 4th, 1985, and has been going strong ever since.

If by chance you've never been to Summerland, you are missing out on a great deal of super summer memories. Summerland is located about 2 miles east of St. Cloud on Highway 23, and is open 7 days a week throughout the summer months from Noon until 7 pm daily.

THE VOICE OF SUMMERLAND

If you've heard the jingle and the voice on your radio shouting happily, "SUMMERLAND!" it is the voice of central Minnesota's own legendary John Uran, a man that many call a close friend, who has one of the biggest hearts I've ever met. John has known owner Wayne Swenson for that entire time, and Wayne told me that he knew when he heard that voice, that it would be the voice of SUMMERLAND eternally.

FOR THE LOVE OF ANYTHING CARS

Wayne has always loved fast cars, racing, and go-karts, and as a child started saving his earnings from making only $1.35 an hour, he started putting his money away. Then in high school when he was a junior, he started racing stock cars, but quickly learned that stock car racing was a money-eater, not a money maker. So then he started college at SCSU and started selling cars off of his family farm, and eventually started Southwood Motors.

40 YEARS OF FUN AT SUMMERLAND

In 1985, he opened SUMMERLAND, 9 1/2 acres with a Waterslide and a car track. He then added some bumper boats, and the list goes on and on.

Today, SUMMERLAND has 36 holes of challenging mini-golf. There is Bear Country, which has 18 holes, and Lakes Adventure with 18 holes.

He has added batting cages, Kids Country, an arcade, bumper boats with water cannons, and he's added yet another new exciting Go-kart track called Crazy Coyote Slick Track.

I bet you didn't know SUMMERLAND had so much to offer! Three go-kart tracks, all the other things we mentioned, and of course, concessions. How could you have hours of fun without concessions?
