Central Minnesota Radio Mourns The Loss Of One Of Its Own
I want to share with all of you, our radio community, a devastating loss of one of our own, who many of you considered family.
He was one of the most positive human beings you will ever meet, and everyone knew him by his amazing voice that carried out for years over the radio airwaves here in central Minnesota, and in the many other places that he lived throughout his life. As a matter of fact, I STILL hear his voice on the airwaves from time to time.
PETER CHARLES HANSON
Pete Hanson, my co-host for three years on 98.1 Minnesota's New Country, passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, December 20th, 2025, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester after a long fight with cancer.
Pete was a New Year's Eve baby and was just shy of his 59th birthday.
OTHER STORIES: EagleCam Is Back Just In Time For Winter Courtship
Although his family, friends, and co-workers are all devastated by the news, we all know that Pete embraced every second, every minute, and every day of his life...fully.
Overcoming so many health obstacles throughout his life, he learned early what was important. He was cautious with his time and his heart, choosing joy and happiness over hell and high water. There was no time on his clock for trivial nonsense, in the big skeem of life.

PETE WAS A LOVER OF THE GREAT OUTDOORS
Pete was funny. He was happy. He loved the outdoors. He loved wine. He lived for hiking, camping, cabin getaways, and treasured moments with his family. He always had a great big smile on his face when he talked about his wife, Amie, his dogs, and his parents and siblings, as he shared many stories with us about his childhood.
He loved serving others and lifting them up, and that's exactly what I think he would want us to remember him for.
HE LOVED TO LIFT PEOPLE UP
I can recall so many things that Pete did for me when I needed comfort most. He was the first person I called when my precious Great Dane Sampson passed away. He told me to take as much time as I needed to be with my Mother in her last three weeks on this planet. Work was important, but nothing compared to those you love. Pete figured out early what many of us take a lifetime to realize. Don't waste time...Don't take your life for granted. Give of yourself and your talents, and truly embrace life.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE
A Celebration of Life is still in the planning stages at this time. "So Many people loved him. He was in St. Cloud long enough to make some great friends and connections. I feel many of those people would want to know," said his wife, Amie.
