Sometimes amazing things are born out of the tragedies that are handed to us throughout our lives. Take, for example, the loss of a loved one. They say we never really get over that loss, but most of us find a way around it; through it; a way to define a new tomorrow that will always have a void where we never expected there to be one.

This is how the 'Little Barn Kitchen - Grit & Grace in Broken Places' was created.

EL PRENTICE

My Friend John Fuls told me about a woman he thought might be a really interesting person to talk to, and he was right. Her name is El Prentice, and her book is something all of us should take time to read.

Ellarry Prentice, now an award-winning journalist and founder of Expressions by El, (which is a greeting card line that was created to celebrate people, and comfort those who have lost them), created 'Littel Barn Kitchen' as a way to heal from her own terrible losses, and find meaning and hope in her life afterwards. She has now created this book that can help others find a way through tragedy that can seem unbearable.

A STORYBOOK COOKBOOK

The book is a storybook cookbook that includes recipes, stories, life lessons learned, and so much more.

Throughout this book, you may find song lyrics and recipes that speak to your heart. You may find worksheets, poems, and photos that remind you of a loved one.

REMINDERS

The stories in El's book may remind you of your family history, or of a funny story or memory that you can hang on to as a reminder of them, to carry with you til you meet again.

One of the pages in the book features a sketch by Stacy Orbeck from Paynesville, Minnesota. Stacy was studying Community Health in college, and this sketch that she made has a simple message- 'One Step At A Time.'
