Treasure Hunting In Duluth Reveals Golden Surprises
Humans have been obsessed with the glittering specs of gold and nuggets of all sizes for what seems to be as long as we've been around. The rush of a real-life treasure hunt, by panning for gold, has real appeal for many. One YouTube channel was recently in Duluth, and went around the area panning for gold, and found some!
The Glacial Gold Hunter
Lucas Lundgren, a Geologist, runs the YouTube channel Glacial Gold Hunter and goes around the Midwest in search of gold. Lundgren was recently up in Duluth, and he decided to try his luck panning the many Lake Superior tributaries and streams, ultimately finding some flakes of gold!

Does Minnesota have gold deposits?
Yes, although they aren't as large as what people find out west. There have been some mini-gold rushes in Minnesota history, across various parts of the state. The area that many gold hopefuls seem to gravitate to is in the North and Northeastern areas of the state, as there was a gold rush on Rainy Lake in the late 1800s.
Educational and Entertaining
Lundgren's videos are both educational and entertaining. In his Duluth gold prospecting video, viewers learn ALOT about the geography of the area, with plenty of 'proper' rock names, as well as some funny moments edited in to go along with Lundgren's commentary.
