ELKO! Speedway Changes Hands After 25 Years

Tom Ryan Announces Sale of Elko Speedway to MEGA Properties, after 25 Years. As of 4:00 PM today [May 1], longtime owner Tom Ryan has officially sold Elko Speedway to MEGA Corporation, marking the end of a remarkable 25-year chapter in the track’s storied history.

MEGA Corporation, the new owners, are committed to preserving Elko Speedway's legacy and ensuring that racing continues to thrive in the region for years to come. Their investment signals a bright future for the beloved venue and the local racing community.

"Deciding to sell Elko Speedway was one of the biggest decisions of my life," said Ryan. "After much thought and deliberation, I knew it was time to bring in new energy and leadership to take the Speedway to the next level—and to help 'Make Elko Great Again.'"

With a mix of emotions—happiness, sadness, relief, and gratitude—Ryan acknowledged that it was time to pass the torch. “I was running out of energy and the willingness to keep running the Speedway. While there were financially attractive offers to redevelop the land for housing, I knew Elko Speedway was too special to lose. There is truly nothing else like it in this region.”

Ryan expressed deep appreciation for the individuals who played vital roles in the growth and success of Elko Speedway, including Bob Fredrickson, Mark Tuma, Terry Fredrickson, Bill Forbord, Jeff Martin, and Scotty Marschall. “Without their talent, hard work, and incredible ideas, Elko Speedway would not be what it is today.”

He also gave special thanks to his longtime advisor and accountant, Beth Tatge. “Beth has always had my back, and I couldn’t have done this without her steady hand and loyal support.”

Finally, Ryan paid tribute to his late brother, Dan Ryan. “Dan kept me grounded. His advice was always spot on, and I miss him every day. Truthfully, I don’t think I ever would have sold the Speedway if he were still here.”

As he closes this chapter, Ryan leaves the racing community with a heartfelt message: “Please support the new owners and continue to keep racing positive. Elko Speedway is worth it.”

Wish you all the very best!

Tom Ryan

Who are the new owners?

The head of the new group taking over the Southern Minnesota speedway, conveniently located off I-35 in Elko-New Market, MEGA Properties, is a familiar name to fans of racing, Jaycen Brockhouse. Jaycen, according to the Pioneer Press, once held season points titles in Great North Legends at the old Raceway Park in Shakopee and at Elko.

The Brockhouse family itself has been involved with racing, including winning championships at ELKO!, for a long time. Jaycen's dad, Tim, was a great driver, and his younger brothers have also seen success on the oval.  Owning a track isn't new to the Brockhouses, the family also purchased the Tomah Sparta Speedway in Wisconsin.
