I can't believe how awful this story is, the fact that someone would throw a cat from the 12th floor of a building with no regard for its life is so sad.

Home for Life is a sanctuary for animals in need, especially those overlooked for adoption due to special care requirements, they are based in Stillwater, MN, they were contacted by Minneapolis Animal Control about a cat that desperately needed some help.

Minneapolis Animal Control says that multiple witnesses, including children, saw the one-year-old female tabby and white cat tossed from the 12th floor balcony of a housing building and striking the pavement below.

The cat has been named Rue, and she survived the fall but suffered some very serious injuries including a broken leg, foot and jaw. Home for life says in a press release that, "her legs were set, and a nasal gastric tube was placed so she could receive hydration and nutrition, despite the broken jaw".

Rue will undergo an inventive procedure that will bond her upper and lower canine teeth together to hold the jaw in place, this should allow Rue to avoid a painful surgery and recovery.

Home For Life says that Rue is a "courageous and resilient cat", they report that despite having both legs in casts and a broken jaw, she is trying to groom herself and that she will likely recover from the unthinkable cruelty she suffered.

Despite asking, Home For Life says they have not gotten a response from authorities if the person responsible for this terrible act will be prosecuted for animal cruelty, a felony in Minnesota.
