While Powerball always seems to get the most attention as jackpots escalate, other national lottery games can also generate massive paydays for lucky winners.

Mega Millions is one such game as jackpots start at $20 million and keep growing until someone wins.

The gameplay is similar to Powerball in that players pay $2 per play and for an additional $1 per play, players can purchase the Megaplier feature to increase non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4, or 5 times.

For each ticket, players pick five numbers from 1-70 and one Mega Ball number from 1-25. Those numbers can also be randomly selected with the quick pick option. Then, players wait for the next drawing. Drawings take place at 10:00 p.m. CST on Tuesdays and Fridays.

The jackpot going into the drawing on Friday, September 27 had grown to $77 million and while nobody won that jackpot, someone in Minnesota had a life-changing win.

Minnesota Has A New Millionaire Thanks To Mega Millions

The winning numbers on Friday, September 27 were 29-46-53-69-70, with a Mega Ball number of 23 and a x2 Megaplier.

To win a Mega Millions jackpot, you'd have to match the first 5 numbers plus the Mega Ball number. However, you can win as little as $2 for just matching the Mega Ball. Hey, it's not a big win but that pays for the ticket!

To win $1 million, you'd have to match all five numbers but miss the Mega Ball number. That's just what happened in Minnesota Friday and that lucky winner also paid the extra $1 for the Megaplier feature, which ended up doubling that $1 million win to $2 million.

According to the Minnesota Lottery, the winning ticket was purchased at a Holiday Station Store located at 5101 Edina Industrial Boulevard in Edina.

As of Tuesday, October 1, that big $2 million win has not been claimed, so hopefully, Minnesota's newest potential millionaire still has that winning ticket and checks the Megamillions numbers from Friday.

However, unless the winner decides to come forward publicly, we may never know who they are. There are regulations to protect lottery winners who win over $10,000 because big-money winners can become targets for scammers and fraud, so the Minnesota Lottery will not divulge their name unless they first agree to it.

Meanwhile, the Megamillions jackpot has grown to an estimated $93 million ahead of the October 1 drawing.
