I guess we can take pride in the fact that we are the coldest place some of these southern boys have ever been to. It may have been cold outside, but Scotty McCreery and Dustin Lynch were cooking at Amsoil Arena.

Whenever we have people from warmer climates visit us in Duluth, we are asked how the heck we live here. Sons of Habit opened the show on Saturday night, and they were quick to point out how cold it was out there. It's a literal ice breaker for the crowd, and a tip of a hat to the hearty people of the Northland.

Scotty McCreery took the stage and kicked things off with a high-energy performance. Scotty's set was very personal, often sharing the stories of where his songs came from while flashing images of his family and home videos behind him. I have to admit, I got choked up on 5 More Minutes. The highlight for me was the performance of Bottle Rockets to wrap up their set.

Scotty thanked everyone for coming out for the evening and said, "I'm pretty sure this is the coldest place I've ever been, haha."

Dustin Lynch came out swinging with an impressive show filled with hard-hitting songs, lights, and stage effects. He did some shots with the crowd, played with some people in the audience, and brought some great energy.

He stopped at one point during the show and said that when he was on his tour bus in Duluth, he was watching people walk around outside like it was 65 degrees. Then he got outside and froze. "9 degrees? That's what we're dealing with today, Duluth? Really?" He then did go on to say how cool Bentleyville was, so I'm glad that Dustin braved the cold for the lights.

What did you think of the concert? It was one of the better country concerts I've seen in the last few years.
