Help Wanted After Minnesota Nursery School Is Targeted For Vandalism
Nursery schools play an important role for kids throughout Minnesota as they act as a bridge between home and formal schooling.
Nursery schools provide a structured environment that fosters crucial social, emotional, and cognitive skills, preparing children for future academic and social success, which is why parents are careful when choosing the best nursery school for their kids.
In Duluth, Minnesota, University Nursery School has five locations, all of which are 4-Star Parent Aware rated. Part of their stated mission is to "prepare the children in our community for a successful and fulfilling future throughout their education and beyond."
Their staff strives to provide loving care, as well as high-quality and developmentally appropriate early childhood education, so it's hard to imagine anyone would target them for vandalism, but that, unfortunately, is what recently happened.
Vandalism Reported At University Nursery School In Duluth
According to the school's Facebook post, on the night of Wednesday, August 6, someone took a knife to many of their toys and a climber with mesh netting, causing excessive damage.

The vandalism occurred at University Nursery School's Swan Lake location, which is inside Mount of Olives Baptist Church at 1500 Swan Lake Road in Duluth.
They added that there had recently been graffiti, garbage, and some mess-making at that location, but this was far worse. While it's not known for certain, they suspect this vandalism was done by unsupervised kids in the area. People in the area were asked to be on the lookout for suspicious behavior.
Thankfully, the diligent staff at University Nursery School was able to clean things up before all the kids came back to the school, because seeing that damage could be traumatizing.

Teachers at the school are now looking to replace as many of the damaged toys as they can for the kids. If anyone has any extra outdoor toys, they would appreciate it very much if they could bring them to school as a donation.
Since that Facebook post was made, there has been a tremendous outpouring of public support, and the staff at the school is extremely grateful. There are currently no reports regarding the identification of those who are responsible for the damage.
