Body Discovered in Oronoco Home After It Was Engulfed in Flames
Oronoco, MN (KROC-AM News) - A person was found dead inside a burning home in Oronoco early this morning.
Olmsted County Sheriff's Captain Scott Behrns says firefighters from Oronoco and Pine Island responded to reports of a residential structure fire around 2:30 a.m. at 710 Fifth Street Northwest in Oronoco. The house was engulfed in flames when they arrived at the scene.
While searching the residence, the firefighters discovered a body in a bedroom. Captain Behrns says it is suspected the victim was the 82-year-old woman who lived in the home, but that has yet to be confirmed.
The cause of the fire and the cause of death both remain under investigation. Captain Behrns says it is unclear if the victim suffered some sort of medical emergency or fell victim to the actual fire. An investigator from the State Fire Marshal’s office was called to the scene this morning.
