Owatonna based Bushel Boy tomato company is hoping to expand into Mason City, IA. They don't want to do just any kind of expansion though, they want to build a hydroponic facility in Mason City.

The possibility of this expansion was announced Monday by Mason City's Mayor Bill Schickel. KARE 11 reports that in his announcement Mayor Schickel said Bushel Boy is "planning a $35 million project that would occupy about 80 acres and could bring 50 new jobs to Mason City."

The issue is there would be a cost to build a two-lane road to get to the facility, which would partially be paid for by the city of Mason City and the rest would be paid by the state of Iowa. The city would also have to extend water and sewer lines to the facility too.
