Zumbrota-Mazeppa senior Maddie Lindhart was the state Class A champion in the discus on Friday and followed Saturday with the championship in the shot put. Lindhart's toss of 41 feet, 8.25 inches nearly beat the nearest challenger by five feet.

Senior Taylor Hagen of Blooming Prairie placed fourth in the event also earning her all-state status.

Waterville-Elysian-Morristown sophomore Samantha Petry captured the pole vault crown with a vault of 11 feet. Sophomore Hannah Coleman of Byron placed fifth to pick up all-state honors.

Kenyon-Wanamingo sophomore Mara Quam followed up her long jump state championship Friday with all-state performances in her other two events at the state Class A girls track and field championships at Hamline University in St. Paul. Quam was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.64 and fifth in the triple jump with a leap of 35 feet, 5.75 inches. Sophomore Jenna Kes of Jordan was the winner at 37 feet, 9.75 inches and freshman Emma Weatherly of Byron placed seventh with a 35 feet, 1 inch effort.  Weatherly also placed seventh in the 100-meter hurdles with a 16.06 time to earn all-state honors in both events.

W-E-M junior Tierney Winter is all-state in the 1,600-meter run with a sixth-place finish time of 5:09.87. Byron eighth-grader Taylor Kreitinger was fourth in the event with a 5:03.90 showing. The Waterville-Elysian-Morristown 4x100 meter relay team of sophomores Alicia Avila and Samantha Petry, junior Lily Anderson and senior Brooke Galler placed sixth. Kreitinger also placed seventh in the 800-meter run with a 2:22.00 time.

Tri-City United junior Kristi Fredrick placed second in the 300-meter hurdles at 47.02. Senior Marta Springer of St. Peter won with a 46.50 time. Byron's Emma Weatherly placed sixth and junior Mikayla McCullough of Plainview-Elgin-Millville was fifth.

Other area girls all-staters in Class A include senior Kayla Stowell of Le Sueur-Henderson with a fifth-place finish in the 200-meter dash and fourth-place showing in the 100-meter dash. Sophomore Morgan Shindelar of P-E-M was third in the 100-meter dash.

Lake City's 4x400 meter relay team of seniors Bailey Cronin and Braeden McElmury, freshman Liv Kozlowski and junior Morgam Dammann are all-state after finishing third and their 4x200 relay of McElmury, Cronin, junior Madi Green and sophomore Abby Ziebell placed ninth, which was good enough to earn a point for a team but not all-state status.

Belle Plaine is the girls Class A state team champion. They tallied 56 points to get by Minneapolis Edison with 49. P-E-M was fifth with 26, Z-M's Maddie LIndhart and Byron seventh with 24 and K-W's Mara Quam had her Knights in the top 10 tied with Breck School with 23 points.
