Zumbrota-Mazeppa Sends Six Wrestlers to State, Goodhue Four

In addition to participating in the team portion of the Minnesota State Wrestling Tournament this week, six individuals from Zumbrota-Mazeppa will try to earn some hardware.

The Section 1 Class A Tournament was held at the Rochester Mayo Civic Center Arena on Saturday.

Zumbrota-Mazeppa section champions were:

• 170: Hayden Voxland, junior
• 182: Caden Steffen, junior

Second-place finishers at the section tournament included:

• 145: Maverick Jackson, senior
• 152: Sam Nordquist, junior
• 195: Jacob Bennett, sophomore
• 220: Jarret Haglund, junior

Goodhue has three section champions and one second-place finisher for a total of four qualifiers:

• 113 champion: John Altendorf, senior
• 152 champion: Kelby O'Reilly, sophomore
• 160 champion: Bailee O'Reilly, senior
• 170 second place: Mason Huemann, junior

Two Panthers qualified for Pine Island:

• 285 champion: Alex Aarsvold, senior
• 120 second place: Dawson Fallon, sophomore

Zumbrota-Mazeppa wrestles Kenyon-Wanamingo in the team competition on Thursday at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. KDHL Radio will have all the Z-M team matches on the airwaves Thursday.

The No. 3-rated Cougars received the No. 4 seed at state.
