Solo Wonder Woman Movie In the Works as Part of Gal Gadot’s Three-Picture Deal
It’s not out of the norm to see someone like Gal Gadot, who was recently cast in the role of Wonder Woman for Warner Bros.’ ‘Batman vs. Superman‘ movie, to sign on for multiple films. In fact, it’s practically expected — just look at Marvel’s template for contracting Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans and the like. With Gadot specifically, however, not only was a three-picture deal revealed but also the development of the long-awaited standalone Wonder Woman movie!
Gadot’s three-picture deal was revealed by Israeli’s top news program, ‘Good Evening With Gai Pines’ (via Batman News), the first of which will be, of course, ‘Batman vs. Superman,’ which will see Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel and Ben Affleck’s Caped Crusader teaming up on the big screen come May 6, 2016. While Gadot’s other two movies will presumably be the long-gestating ‘Justice League’ movie and a standalone Wonder Woman movie, Variety has confirmed both. Gadot will reportedly earn $300,000 per film.
Gadot will be the first to portray Wonder Woman in a live-action feature film after Warner Bros.’ failed attempts to realize the character in any capacity. For a while, the original plan was to kick-start Wonder Woman alongside ‘Arrow’ with her own TV series on The CW, titled ‘Amazon.’ However, the recent Television Critics Association panels revealed this project to be completely scrapped presumably in favor of ‘The Flash’ series and her big-screen rendering.
‘Batman vs. Superman’ was originally scheduled to hit theaters in 2015 but was pushed back a year to accommodate additional production time needed.
