I have known Wade Bourne for many years since his days of hosting IN-Fisherman Radio. He ways always quick to provide me with whatever I needed for his shows. And he was always happy to provide me with a few fishing tips and chat about Minnesota.

He's been the host of Wired to Hunt and Fish heard on KDHL at 4:50PM weekdays and 6:10AM on Saturdays.

Wade passed away, apparently of a sudden heart attack, while cutting down a Christmas tree for his family on their land last Thursday.

According to his website, here is some information about Wade. As one of the most recognized names in the outdoors industry, he was a co-host for Ducks Unlimited TV for a number of years, including the program's time on Outdoor Channel. A prolific writer, Wade also was editor-at-large for Ducks Unlimited magazine and a senior writer for Bassmaster magazine. He was a widely published freelance writer and photographer with countless credits in magazines and on websites all across the country. In all, reports indicate that he wrote more than 3,000 articles for numerous publications and websites along with six books.

Over the years, Wade was given a number of high honors by his peers in the outdoors industry. In 2003, he was inducted into the Legends of the Outdoors Hall of Fame. Two years later, Wade was inducted into the National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame. In 2014, he was given the Southeastern Outdoor Press Association's Lifetime Achievement Award. And in 2016, he received the Homer Circle Fishing Communicator Award from the Professional Outdoor Media Association and the American Sportfishing Association.

Services were held Tuesday in Tennessee.

Wade had recorded shows through the middle of January 2017. Unless we hear otherwise, KDHL plans to air those shows at their usual time.

He had a great way to end each show. "Thanks for listening, and get outside" Enjoy the great outdoors up yonder Wade.

Here is the YouTube tribute Ducks Unlimited did for Wade.
