Winter Crops Days was held at 4 locations late last week Caledonia, Lake Crystal, Kasson and Waseca. The Arlington location was canceled because of the weather. It will not be rescheduled. Dr. Jeff Coulter with the University of Minnesota Department of Agronomy and Plant Genetics talks with Farmers about research he has conducted on row width, population, planting date and many other topics. The major theme of most of the presentations was maximizing your return on investment, what does the "scientific research" show. The cost of inputs to produce a crop has changed little from last year. However, corn prices dropped from well over $7 a bushel last year to $4 this year. That means Farmers need to figure out hoe to do more with less!
