Awards shows run so long, it takes a great host to execute the jokes and ad libs very well to hold our attention. Amy Poehler and Tina Fey have done pretty well; I have loved Billy Crystal; Steve Martin in his day was good. But recently I was concerned about Anna Farris and Allison Janney doing the People's Choice Awards. They seemed very, nervous, sometimes a little unrehearsed and the jokes seemed forced. I don't know how much time the hosts get to practice or prepare. But it just seems like the effort to find those hosts that are going to grab us and hold on is not what it used to be. Just an opinion. And I know there are not as many people like me who watch the whole or most of the show, but it's easier to watch when it's fun to watch.
