Gordy Kosfeld was talking to an area car dealer this morning on the show, and the subject came up of what vehicle was he driving on his first date. His was an AMC Matador. I didn't think they were bad cars. I remember riding in a friend's Rambler a few times and thought it was okay. The Matador was used as a police car on Adam-12 a number of years. The only bad car I can think of that AMC made was the Pacer. (The egg-shaped car.)

I think mine was worse. I had a 1973 Chevrolet Vega. It did not look anywhere near as good as the one in the picture. Mine was rust-colored, which helped hide the actual rust. Now I do have to admit I drove this car a lot and hard for the year and a half I had it, and it held up pretty good. But I think it was why I had only one date during the time I had that car. Or was it the bad polyester suits of the time?

One night I left the keys sitting in the hatch lock on a busy street in North Minneapolis. The keys and the car were still there in the morning.
