The Mankato West Scarlet boys hockey team showed everyone at the Faribault Ice Arena why they are the 7th rated team in class A with a 8-2 win over the Faribault Falcons tonight.  Faribault scored 2:37 into the game on a powerplay goal and played very well for the next nearly 8 minutes.  Then the Scarlets tallied 3 goals in :44.  Faribault would cut the lead to 3-2 with a goal :05 into the second period when Christian Von Ruden won the face off and passed to Isaiah Brogden who then buried the puck for his second goal of the game and 9th of the season.  Von Ruden assisted on both goals and now has 10 assists on the year.  Mankato West scored two second period goals in the span of :51 and added 3 more in the third.  The final two scores came within 41 seconds of each other.  Brogden and Von Ruden were the Faribault State Farm Agents Faribault players of the game.  Sophomore goaltender Adam Johannson of the Falcons collected 41 saves in the game.  Faribault had just 15 total shots on goal.  The Scarlets remained unbeaten in the Big Nine and are now 18-2 on the season.  Faribault dropped to 6-9-2 overall and 4-7-1 in the Big Nine.  The Falcons are at Rochester Century Saturday afternoon at 2:30 and Mankato West travels to Austin on Monday night.  The Scarlets are closer to their first ever Big Nine boys hockey title.
