Tuesday I made a drive over to Rochester to attend a meeting with the Townsquare Media executives and a get-together with our sister stations from Owatonna and Rochester. There was some rain in the forecast and the temperatures were going to be in the 40s.

I came out from the meeting about 3:30 p.m. and it was unusually dark. I asked one of the Rochester announcers who was outside on a break at the time what was going on and he said that a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for the area. I started out for home and it started raining not long before I got in the car and then I started seeing some pea-size and even a few marble-size pieces of hail. I did not think that this kind of weather was possible when temperatures are in the low 40s. But it can happen.

Speaking of which, next week is Severe Weather Awareness Week in Minnesota. We will be bringing you some special reports on what to do when the skies darken and the sirens sound. Plus there will be statewide tornado drills Thursday afternoon and evening.

Until next time, Have a great day!
