As we fly through summer, it occurs to me that I need more weekend, and fewer weekdays. The list of things I have yet to do on my summer list, some of which is fun and some of which is projects, has barely been touched and we are halfway through our short summer. I have a feeling I am not alone in this, and if you're like me, you're going to be using these remaining warm days to squeeze as much as possible in. This weekend has plenty of fun activities going on, so you can check several things off the list!

  • Friday is the Faribault Main Street Car Cruise Night from 6-9PM on Central Avenue in downtown Faribault. The event includes the Gopher Motorsports University of Minnesota Formula SAE race car and team, the unveiling of a ridiculously huge trophy, music from Power 96, and many fantastic vehicles.
  • Hear the music of the Man in Black at the Paradise Center for the Arts on Friday at 7:30PM as the Church of Cash performs from Johnny Cash's catalog.
  • Cool off at the Faribault Family Aquatic Center on Friday night with free open swim at 8PM and the movie Frozen at dusk. The movie will have closed captioning.
  • Friday and Saturday the Lakefront Music Festival takes place in Prior Lake with O.A.R., the BoDeans, Love and Theft, and Martina McBride performing.
  • The Waseca County Free Fair is underway.
  • Saturday morning, stroll the Faribault Farmers Market in Faribault's Central Park.
  • Sunday is the Peace United Methodist Church ice cream social from 4-6PM.
