The weekend is finally here! If you’re looking for some fun events this weekend, I’ve put together a list filled with something for everyone!

  • Feb. 27-28: Take in local theater by going to see “The 39 Steps” at the Little Theatre of Owatonna. Tickets are $14 and showtime is at 7:30 p.m. More information available at www.littletheatreofowatonna.org
  • Feb. 28 is Kenyon's Carriage and Cutter event. It’s the largest nonmotorized parade in Minnesota, where you will see a wide variety of horses. The parade begins at 1:30 p.m. Make sure to take the kids because there are free pony and wagon rides and a free petting zoo. And if you love history, don't miss the Kenyon Historical Society tours of the historic Gunderson House every half-hour from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Feb. 28, 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.: The Alex Walsh Ice Gold Fundraiser on Roberts Lake.  Fourteen-year-old Alex Walsh was diagnosed with cancer five months ago. After three months of chemotherapy to shrink the tumor, the tumor was successfully removed. Activities will include ice golf from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., a silent auction from noon to 4 p.m., a fishing tournament with check-in at 11 a.m. and closing at 4:30 p.m., and a hammerschlagen tournament.   • Feb. 28 there will be a spaghetti dinner and silent auction benefit from 4:30-7:30 p.m. for Mary Sahagian and Ken Wagner at the Elks Club in Owatonna. Ken suffered a serious stroke and had significant blockage in his right carotid artery. Tickets for Adults are $12 and $8 for 12 and younger.
  • Feb. 28 from from 6-9 p.m.: St. Vincent de Paul will be having a fundraiser at the Knights of Columbus in Faribault; $25 per person. Social hour starts at 6 p.m., ham and turkey buffet starts at 7 p.m. For more information, call (507) 323-4368
  • March 1: Head to the Knights of Columbus Hall in Faribault for a benefit for Tom VonRuden and family from 3-7 p.m. There will be a taco cinner, silent auction/craft sale/bake sale. A portion of the proceeds will also go to Brains Together for a Cure. Donation: $10 for ages 13 and older, $5 for children ages 5-12. For more information, call (507) 210-1177
  • Other ideas: bundle up and head to the River Bend Nature Center to explore the snow-covered trails, use food dye and water in squirt bottles to create art in the snow in your yard, and get caught up with your favorite DJs at Power96radio.com and KDHLradio.com!
  • In sports action, KDHL brings you playoff coverage tonight as Waterville-Elysian-Morristown challenges Maple River, with a 5:45 pregame start. On Saturday, tune to Power 96 at 10:45 a.m. to hear Cannon Falls boys play against Rochester Lourdes in playoff action.
