The National Weather Service reports that a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect today until 9 p.m., with periods of moderate to heavy snow continuing through the afternoon and tapering of after 6 p.m.

Another round of snow has recently developed from near the Twin Cities metro south into south-central Minnesota. This batch of intense snow, with reports of thunder in the southern metro area, will rotate eastward into western Wisconsin through the rest of the afternoon and early evening. Expect additional snow accumulation of up to 2 inches.

The most intense precipitation will ease by early this evening. The snow is expected to end between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. in the Twin Cities metro area, and between now and 4:30 p.m. for central Minnesota.
