Faribualt Falcon junior Tate Olson went into the State Track and Field Meet over the weekend with the best pole vault of the season.

Unfortunately an athlete has to be able to equal or better their best regular season result when they get to state. Olson had the top seed pole vault at 14 feet, 6 inches but couldn't clear 14 feet at state.

A sophomore from Moundsview, Calvin Ciganik, got past 15 feet to win the title.

New Prague senior Alex Torp was fourth, Lakeville South junior Noah Shafer seventh and Mankato West senior Colter Killion ninth in the event.

Falcon junior Adam Tuma bettered his seed time in the 1,600 meter run by over four seconds but just couldn't crack the top nine for a placement at state.

The Wayzata Trojans repeated in the boys and the Alexandria Area Cardinals captured their first girls championship.
