No. 5 ranked and top-seed Waterville-Elysian-Morristown left little doubt who had the stronger team Monday night at Mankato West High School, sweeping Alden-Conger in the South Subsection of 2A.

The Buccaneers went several extremely long service runs while beating the Knights 25-10, 25-3, 25-9 in the subsection semfinals. Junior Kate Masberg served 14 straight points in the second set. Senior Mercedes Morsching served 10 straight in the third set. WEM had 16 ace serves, including five each from Masberg and Morgan Jindra.

Senior RaeAhna Harmon led the attack with 13 kills. Masberg added 11. Senior Kamryn Kendall had eight. Senior Erika Olson contributed seven. Freshman setter Paige Pittman balanced the attack and found a few kills for herself, too. Jindra had numerous great digs.

The victory puts WEM (29-3) in the subsection final Thursday night at Mankato East High School. They will play No. 2 seed St. Clair (24-7) who swept Martin Luther / Granada-Huntley-East Chain 3-0 Monday. The match begins at 6PM on KDHL AM 920. The Bucs beat the Cyclones 2-0 during the WEM tournament early this season.

In the North Subsection of 2A, No. 3 ranked Mayer Lutheran plays BOLD Thursday night after the WEM-St. Clair match. The winners square off Saturday at 6PM at Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Kenyon-Wanamingo swept Tri-City United Monday night to reach the 2AA South Subsection finals against NRHEG. The match is Thursday at MSU-Mankato at 6PM with radio coverage on Kat Kountry 105.
