On Wednesday evening I was asked to speak at the annual Waterville-Elysian-Morristown FFA banquet. It is always an honor when you are asked to speak, but this one was special. Legendary farm broadcaster Dean Curtis was from Elysian so I was able to speak at Dean's home school. I did not know Dean, but I did meet him once! It was in 1969 at my first FFA Banquet at Wells Easton High School.

I remember the banquet was a big event because the guest speaker was Dean Curtis from KDHL radio. It was held in a church basement because there was not enough room in the school cafeteria. I was recognized as the Star Greenhand and after the banquet Dean shook my hand and congratulated me. If you would have told me 26 years later I would be sitting in Dean's chair at KDHL's studio on the air or that 47 years later I would be speaking at his home high school I would have not believed you!
