Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Boys Basketball Dominates Bethlehem Academy

The Waterville-Elysian-Morristown poured in 11 three pointers in a 73-46 win over Faribault Bethlehem Academy in Morristown on Friday night.

Buccaneer Head Coach Jeff Wagner told Power 96 after the win his team shot the ball very well and he was impressed by his team's defensive effort. So was I.

The Bucs played excellent defense while taking a 38-23 lead at the half led by 6-foot-3 senior Dallas Mcbroom's 19 first half points and 6-foot-5 senior Zac Olson's 14.

McBroom had five first-half threes and finished with six. Olson had a pair of three-point baskets and finished with 20 points. Six-foot-1 sophomore Tanner Ranslow finished with 11 points, including three bombs.

Everybody played for both teams.

The game was close early and, after the Cardinals Avery Hunt picked up his second foul and had to sit the final 10 minutes of the first half, the Buccaneers took over.

Bethlehem Academy 6-foot senior Braden Trump was the only Cardinal to score in double figures with 11 points. Six-foot-2 junior Alex Bongers had 8 points, Hunt 8 points, 6-foot-2 sophomore Damon Trump 7 points, and 6-foot-1 sophomore Zach Van Thomme added energy off the bench and 7 points.

The Class 2A 15th-ranked Bucs host Belle Plaine on Tuesday and travel to Maple River next Friday.

The Cardinals have three home games during Catholic Schools Week with Glenville-Emmons on Monday, Grand Meadow on Tuesday and Blooming Prairie on Friday all coming to Van Orsow Auditorium.

Waterville-Elysian-Morristown is now 11-3 overall and 7-1 in the Gopher Conference while Bethlehem Academy dropped to 8-8 overall and 2-4 in the league.
