Waterville-Elysian-Morristown and Tri-City United Baseball Advance

The Section 2 AA baseball tournament had another upset Thursday when the Tri-City United Titans knocked off the Fairmont Cardinals 12-2 in five innings in Fairmont.

The Titans are in the winners bracket and play top seed and top-rated Belle Plaine at 11AM Saturday at Veterans Field in St. Peter. The winner of that game waits to see who comes from the elimination bracket and doesn't have to play again until Thursday.

Belle Plaine downed Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 4-0.

The Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Buccaneers are still alive in the elimination bracket after a 6-1 win over Blue Earth Area in Waterville on Thursday evening. The Buccaneers will play Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop at 4PM Saturday in St. Peter.

In the other elimination bracket game, St. James edged New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva 2-1 and the Saints march into St. Peter to play Fairmont at 1:30PM.

In Section 1 A baseball, the Hayfield Viking season ended when Lyle/Pacelli defeated them 7-1 at Riverland Community College after Lyle/Pacelli fell to United South Central 10-6.

The section tournament begins Saturday with Lewiston-Altura and United South Central playing at 10AM at Mayo Field. The winner doesn't play until next week while the loser plays the winner of the elimination bracket game to determine who heads to the title contest.

The elimination bracket game is Randolph against Lyle-Pacelli at 10AM at Rochester Century High School.

In Section 1 AA, Pine Island and Lake CIty hook up in the winners bracket contest at Hudson Field in Rochester at 10AM on Power 96 Radio 95.9FM and www.power96radio.com, or you can download the free RadioPup app and listen on your favorite mobile device.

The elimination bracket features Chatfield and Dover-Eyota hooking up at 10AM at the Rochester John Marshall Alumni field at John Adams Middle School.

In Section 1 AAA, Northfield and Red Wing play in the winners bracket in Red Wing at 1:30PM Saturday while Winona tangles with Albert Lea at 11AM in the elimination bracket.

The winners bracket victor is off until next week.

The Section 1 AAAA 1:30PM winners bracket game in Dundas is Owatonna against Lakeville North. The elimination bracket has Farmington playing Lakeville South at 11AM.

The winner of the elimination bracket contest plays the loser of the championship bracket game at 4PM Saturday.

In Section 2AAA, the section the Faribault Falcons were in, Mankato West plays Marshall at noon Saturday, and at 2PM Mankato East takes on New Ulm at Johnson Field in New Ulm.

The loser of the noon game plays the winner of the 2PM game on Tuesday in New Ulm at 6PM and the winner of that game goes back to New Ulm for the title game or games on Wednesday at 5PM.

In Section 3 AAAA action Friday at 3:30PM, Burnsville and Eastview play at Alimagnet Park in Burnsville in a winner's bracket game and the elimination bracket at 3:30PM in Apple Valley has the Eagles playing Park.

The winner of the winner's bracket contest doesn't play again until Wednesday at 4PM in Dundas and the loser of the winner's bracket game plays the winner of the elimination bracket contesst at 4:30PM Monday.
