The Rice County Sheriff's Office reports a 42 year old Waseca woman was injured in a single vehicle crash about 8:00 this morning.  The accident occurred in the 26000 block of Independence Avenue in Morristown.

A Rice County Sheriff's Office Media Release identified the driver as Carey Kay Root.  Upon arrival Root reported she lost control on an icy roadway and went into the west ditch which caused her vehicle to roll several times.  The driver also told authorities she hit her head and had a sore neck.

Root was flown by helicopter to St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester for further medical treatment.

The only passenger in the vehicle was not identified in the Media Release and did not suffer any injuries.

The Rice County Deputies were assisted at the scene by Morristown Fire Department, North Memorial Emergency Medical Services and the Minnesota State Patrol.

A seat belt probably saved Root from being thrown from the vehicle during the accident which occurred a half hour after sunrise.
