Faribault is blessed to be the home of some wonderful examples of architecture and design, and high among the list of notable places is the beautiful campus of the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf. I recently came across this wonderful video tour of Noyes Hall and Frank Turk Auditorium on the MSAD campus.

Founded in 1863, MSAD is a public residential school with two buildings listed on the National Historic Register. The video is narrated in American Sign Language, and tells of the auditorium being dedicated to Frank Turk. If your sign language skills are a bit rusty, here is a transcript of the video:

"Noyes Hall is one of the most beautiful buildings on the campus. Its masterpiece is the auditorium. Let me show you around!

"The auditorium is dedicated to MSAD alumni Frank Turk. He graduated from MSAD in 1947. He has a plethora of accomplishments, he co-founded the Youth Leadership Camp (YLC) for Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing youth. YLC is a month long camp where students learn about leadership through different activities and workshops. He also founded the National Leadership and Literacy Camp (NLLC) in 2000, for Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing youth to study leadership and literacy. He has worked for the Junior National Association of the Deaf (JrNAD) for 16 years as the National Director. Mr.Turk is involved in numerous organizations and serves on several national boards. He has been an educator of Deaf/Hard of Hearing students and works tirelessly to support their development of leadership skills. He is known around the country for giving leadership-related workshops and presenting to educators and students. Frank Turk is a wonderful man that has given back to his community in so many ways. This auditorium was dedicated to him in the fall of 2013. The same year MSAD celebrated its 150th anniversary."
