It does not matter what the records are. It does not matter what the crowd or noise level is. These two basketball teams go at it like they are in the playoffs already. The Faribault Falcons are at 2-4, Owatonna is at 3-3. Faribault is coming off a loss to Mankato East on Saturday and Owatonna got a win over Winona on Friday.

And the game was all that and more. The Falcons led in the first half, Owatonna came back, kept it close and then Faribault led at the half 23-21. But wait, there's more.

Falcons got a bit of a lead going into the second half, but Owatonna stayed on their heels, got the lead, came close to winning it at the end of regulation, but we went to overtime at 47 apiece.

Falcons controlled overtime at first, but it came down to Owatonna having to foul some Falcon players to try to get the ball back. Brady Combs and Kade Hart came through with some free throws and the Falcons won 56-51. Owatonna takes on Northfield on Friday and the Falcons face Winona. Both teams are now 3-4.

Eli Havelka and Jay Sullivan led the Huskies and Kade Hart had 21, Brady Combs had 14, and TJ Hunt 11 for Faribault. Hart and Combs were the State Farm Insurance of Faribault players of the game.
