Two more upsets and three come-from-behind victories highlighted the second day of action at the state boys hockey tournament at Xcel Center in downtown St. Paul.

Lakeville South opened the Class AA quarterfinals with a 5-2 victory over No. 2 seed St. Thomas Academy, but not before falling behind 1-0, according to the Minnesota State High School League score sheet. The Cougars were outshot 17-4 in the first period but escaped with a 1-1 tie and scored twice early in the second to grab the lead for good.

No. 3 Moorhead scored first and beat Hill-Murray 4-2. The Pioneers leveled the game at 1-1 early in the second period, but the Spuds quickly responded to go ahead for good a short time later.

Top-seed Eden Prairie found themselves behind defending champ and Lake Conference rival Wayzata late in the third period 1-0. The Trojans had struck early in the second period. The Eagles evened the game at 10:31 of the third and added two more, including an empty-net goal for the 3-1 victory.

No. 4 Maple Grove jumped ahead of No. 5 Grand Rapids in the opening minute of the game and led 2-1 after one, but the Thunderhawks potted four goals in the second on the way to a 6-4 victory.

Friday's semifinal schedule starts with Class A play as Northfield faces Monticello/Annandale/Maple Lake at 11AM and Hermantown plays St. Cloud Cathedral at 1PM. AA games begin at 6PM with Lakeville South challenging Moorhead and Eden Prairie against Grand Rapids. All championship round games are at Xcel Energy Center.
