Just Cannon Falls and Pine Island out of League G remain alive in the Third District American Legion Division Two Baseball Tournament being played in Cannon Falls.  Kenyon and Zumbrota-Mazeppa were eliminated the first day of the Tournament on Friday and Randolph saw their season end Sunday.  Kenyon fell to Sibley East 4-1 and Montgomery 5-4 in 8 innings.  Z-M lost to Leseuer-Henderson and Watertown.  Defending District Champion Pine Island fell Saturday 4-1 to Plato and then beat Jordan 4-1 and clubbed Leseuer-Henderson 11-2.  Cannon Falls saw their first win come via forfeit by Lester Prairie Saturday and then lost to Belle Plaine in 8 innings 4-3.  Sunday they ousted Montgomery from the Tournament with a 10-0 win in 6 innings.  Randolph lost to Belle Plaine 6-0 Saturday and was supposed to play the Cannon Falls vs. Lester Praire loser.  With Lester Prarie forfeiting Randolph then advanced in the elimination bracket to play Holy Family Sunday and the Fire collected a 11-1 win in 5 innings.  The two teams remaining in the Winner's bracket are Giant Valley (which is Minnehaha Academy) and Plato.  The Third District includes teams from League G, League E and League A and Giant Valley was added to the District this year.  Here's how next weekend looks.  Friday at 5pm Norwood tangles with Cannon Falls and at 7pm it's Holy Family and Pine Island at John Burch Park.  Saturday at 11am the Norwood/CF winner plays Sibley East at John Burch and at 11:30am the Pine Island/Holy Family winner faces Belle Plaine at Frank Hawks Field at Cannon Falls High School.  1:30pm Saturday at John Burch Plato and Giant Valley square off and the loser plays at 4pm against the winner of the 11am John Burch Park game and at 6:30pm the Giant Valley/Plato winner plays the 11:30am Frank Hawks field winner at John Burch Park.  The possible championship is 1pm Sunday and another game would be played at 3pm if necessary at John Burch to determine the Third District Division Two Champion.  It was a blast being on the PA for the Saturday and Sunday Frank Hawks Field games.  Special thanks to the Kenyon Legion volunteers for keeping the scorebook and scoreboard. In summary these are the eight teams remaining. Giant Valley, Plato, Sibley East, Belle Plaine, Norwood, Cannon Falls, Pine island and Holy Family.
