Peter Van Sluis stops by the KDHL studio to discuss details about the Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall coming to Faribault Labor Day weekend 2016.

A breakfast fundraiser is Sunday at the Faribault American Legion Post #43.

The half-size replica of the original memorial in Washington, D.C., will be set up on the Rice County Fairgrounds.

Just like the original memorial, its 24 individual panels are inscribed with the names of more than 58,000 men and women who died during the Vietnam War or are still missing.

It's been called "The Wall That Heals."

Over the years, Vietnam veterans who were shunned when they returned home from the war have found some comfort by visiting the memorial in Washington or by seeing the replica.

Since it was dedicated in 1996, the traveling exhibit has been to more than 400 communities across the country.

The breakfast fundraiser Sunday features a menu of scrambled eggs, pancakes, biscuits with gravy, seasoned potatoes and sausage. Drinks include coffee or juice and they will have donuts.

Tickets are $8 for adults in advance and $10 at the door. Children (5-11) eat for $5 in advance and $6 at the door.

Serving is from 8AM to noon.

The Faribault American Legion is at 112 Fifth Street N.E.

AM Minnesota begins at 9:30AM. If you can't listen then, you can catch the show on our YouTube channel.
