On Tuesday I will be hosting a special hour long AM Minnesota program. It is my Top 5 Ag Stories for 2016. I always enjoy putting the program together with a guest for each of my picks. Again this year it seemed the picks were easily justified to be in the top 5, maybe you feel the order could be different. On the other hand, maybe you have another story in mind that I did not think of? That is a distinct possibility, but here are my picks.

My top ag story for 2016 was the weather. Tom Hoverstad who is a scientist at the Southern Research and Outreach Center at Waseca will discuss the 2016 growing season. Remember an all time Minnesota annual precipitation record was set at Waseca this year. My second pick, record corn and soybean yields along with near record losses for livestock producers. Ag analysist Kent Thiesse will be my guest for this story.

My third pick, weeds with Lisa Behnken crops specialist at the Rochester Regional Extension Office. My forth pick for Top Ag stories, the cost of health insurance premiums for full time farmers with Dan Pumper for Farm Bureau Insurance. Finally my fifth pick, Buffer Strips with Warren Formo Executive director with the Minnesota Agriculture  Water Resourice Center.

I hope you can listen Tuesday morning at 9:30. Then let me know if I missed an important story I should have put in the Top 5 Ag Stories for 2016! Remember, you can also listen on our web site kdhlradio.com.
