Tom VonRuden and Family Fundraiser Discussed on AM Minnesota 2-12-2015

On Jan. 27, 2014, the VonRuden family received news nobody wants to hear. Tom VonRuden was diagnosed with grade 4 glioblastoma (brain cancer). Tom has undergone surgery, radiation and chemotherapy treatments, and electromagnetic therapy, and continues his treatment.

Organizers of a fundraiser for the family are asking the Faribault community to attend the event March 1 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Faribault from 3-7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for people 13 and older and $5 for children ages 5-12. There will be a silent auction, craft sale, bake sale and taco dinner.

Rice County Sheriff Troy Dunn will be joined on today's AM Minnesota by Calista Vos and Adam VonRuden to give us more details about the event. Proceeds from the benefit will not only help the VonRuden family, but a portion will be donated to Brains Together for a Cure. The family is hoping and praying that someday there will be a cure for brain cancer.  Tune in at 9:30 this morning for more details.
