This afternoon I attended a meeting for farmers that was sponsored by Mark Dietz and Titon Pro. I have always enjoyed going to these type of meetings. Research is ongoing every year. There is always new products or better ways to grow corn and soybeans. This is the time of year to learn about the results and how it can be used on your farm. With low commodity prices and weed resistance, farmers need to really "fine tune" their production practices.

When it comes to weed control it has gotten very complicated, unlike how it used to be. I remember scouting fields and knowing the weed species that were in my fields. Then with my agronomist we would put together a plan of three or four herbicides to deal with the weeds. For about 20 years it was easy with the Round-Up Ready technology. Now we are back to the way it used to be. What is the old saying, "what goes around comes around."
