Rice County Sheriff Troy Dunn is hoping someone will come forward with information concerning a shooting that left three people injured, one critically, in rural Webster.

Dunn says just before 3AM, Rice County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a report of shots fired in the 4000 block of Elmore Avenue in Webster Township.

Scott County also received information about someone being shot.

In addition to Rice County deputies, deputies from Scott and Dakota counties responded to the area along with officers from Lonsdale, Northfield, New Prague and Faribault police departments and the Minnesota State Patrol.

Law enforcement personnel located a woman with a gunshot wound to her upper torso at 4870 Elmore Ave.

She was treated at the scene by Lonsdale Fire/Rescue and Northfield Ambulance personnel at the scene and was airlifted to a trauma center where authorities say she is in critical condition.

A Rice County deputy located another vehicle northeast of the residence and upon stopping the vehicle they discovered two male victims with gunshot wounds to their lower extremities.

One was airlifted from the scene and the other transported by ground ambulance to a metro area trauma center.

Dunn says victim identification is being withheld at this time until family have been notified but added none of the victims is from the immediate area.

KDHL asked Dunn if this was a domestic incident and he said they don't believe that to be the case.

We also asked if this was gang related and he said they don't know at this time.

Initial information gathered at the scene is there was a party with a number of young adults. A physical altercation occurred and then gunshots soon followed. Multiple gunshots were reportedly fired.

Dunn pointed out this occurred in a large area and there are numerous items of evidence to collect and investigate.

He says, "Our priorities are to locate the suspect(s) responsible for this dangerous incident so that no one else is a victim of such violence and bring resolution for the victims."

Dunn adds, "This would also give neighboring residents their feelings of safety and security back in their neighborhoods."

The sheriff says anyone with any information is asked to contact his office at (507) 334-4391. "Even the smallest of information can assist us in our investigation."
